Often one foregoes some of life’s pleasures in order to pursue what one deems to be worthwhile goals and values. But in some cases, instead of finding real profit and fulfillment, one ends up frustrated and disillusioned with the outcome. Then comes the moment to reckon with realities, to take inventory of life, as Solomon did in two passages which will be the focus of our study—Eccl. 4:4-12 and 6:1-12. It is time to take inventory to evaluate life.
